On
Monday at 7:15 we attended the flag ceremony. After the flag ceremony was finished,
I went to the 10 Agriculture class and I met Sydney and the other students
there. This morning they had a “Jingle Presentation”. In this kind of
presentation they have to present their lesson using jingle. In Indonesia, we
have this kind of teaching method also, but we don’t use this method because
the “Jingle Presentation” isn’t effective for Indonesian students. 10
Agriculture had five groups, each group has seven or eight students. They used
a different jingle but with the same subject. This class was so noisy and
talkative.
The second class that i attended
this morning was a different kind with the first classroom. They were so
creative when presenting their jingle, more creative than the first classroom.
This class was so competitive between one to another students. They weren’t
noisy, but I prefer the first classroom (10 Agriculture)
because I like those kinds of students,
usually
students like these are not individual and a little bit challenging for me. But
the second classroom also kind to me.
On Tuesday I went to TAU school at
7:30 am. I went to 10 Agriculture, today they had another kind of learning
method. It’s called “Manila Paper” method. In this kind of method, the teacher
use the manila paper to explain the subject that he/she has to teach. So the
teacher has to write down only the important point and then teacher have to
introduce what is definition and the other information.
This kind of method is a little bit
better than the last method that the teacher use (Jingle Presentation). Because
in this method the students are more interest than the last method. I can saw
it from how serious they were memorizing the name of the meats. But it’s still
not a good kind of teaching method, because the bad from this kind of method is
the students are more likely to talk to each other when the teacher asking the
name of the meats to the other group. I think the teacher needs to use the
other kind of method that more enjoyable to learn, it’s like watching the video
about the topics or use the power point, so it can be more fun.
On Wednesday I went to 10
Agriculture, the teacher still have the same method with the last meeting. But
today it’s a little bit better than the last because the teacher used the
picture of the subject. They were very interested with this kind of method. But
the pictures were hard to be recognized because the pictures didn’t have a good
resolution. I think the teacher have to put the picture into the monitor so
they can see the picture clearly.
There are many things that the
teacher has to do for this classroom. The first thing he has to do is managing
the seat of the students. He should place the talkative students on the front
row and then he has to be louder when he talks because in one classroom there
are forty seven students. And the second is the way he teaches the students. He
has to be more authoritative with the students so the students can give more
respect to the teacher. And the third is the attendance checking. The teacher
has to check the absences of the students so he will know the students that
aren’t attended the class. So the most important thing that the teacher has to
do is managing the class, this is the important way to make the classroom in
the good situation.
On
Thursday i went to 10 Agriculture class, they had a group activity. They had to
sell their product to the other student in TAU. Before they sell their
products, they have to make their products first. They have to make the
interesting products. They have to be creative on making their products to
sell. Because the buyer can be more interested to their products and then buy
their product.
Some
student already made their products at their home. After they finished make
their products, they have to go around the school to sell their products to the
other student. Some group they sold their entire product and the other group
couldn’t sell their entire products. I think this kind of activity is a good
activity because if they want to be an entrepreneur they have to jump in to the
real activity. So they can know what the problems in selling the products.
